Well, my hair is losing the "coil" pattern. They are starting to look more like locs everyday. I am so excited that I have stuck it out to this point. I often question myself, "girl, why didnt you do this a lot sooner?" Simple, Felee wasnt ready. I would have started, panicked, and cut them boogers right outta my head. That is not an option for me at this point. Glad I waited. There is something on the inside that has to like click before you actually decide to loc your hair. I know my husband said to me in the very beginning, "You know that is permanent, are you sure that is something you want to do." Well, in a sense it is permanent, but then again its not. Its a matter of how you look at it.Kinda hard to describe right now, but for those of you that have embarked on the journeey before me, you know what I'm talking about. Any whoooo, next month will be 6, hear me know, 6 whole months that I have been on the journey! That is truly remarkable! What I started out doing, i don't necessarily do anymore. I didnt do a lot anyway, but its even less now. I wash, I rinse, I twist, I oil, I spritz and thats it. Pure and simple. For me, less is best, and the less I do, the less I constantly worry... Now instead of washing at some given timeframe, I wash when I feel like it. I rinse and my scalp thanks me. I twist one time and thats it. I oil my scalp when needed. i spritz w/ some H20 to liven things up. Can't get any more simpler than that. I guess I could do more, but why????? If my hair is doing ok as is; if it aint broke, dont fix it.. :ol Styling options for me right now are simple; curl my babies and let em flow. When they grow a little more maybe I'll wear them straight, maybe not. Curl em and go. Curls last for days and days and days, and, well u get the picture.... The length i had at the beginning is definitley GONE. What happened? When did it happen? Oh well, from what I have been readin I THINK that is part of the whole locing process..... any way, I love my babies, and anticipate them growing up into toddlers, then teens, then mature adults... Not quite sure what stage I am in now, but I'm still HAPPY! Grace and Peace, ~FeLee~

5.22.07
Well, we are almost to the end of May. No twisting done since the beginning of the month. rinses/washes/twist outs and perm rods, but no twisting. I likey. Something else I have learned, or should I say revisited, STAY OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S ALBUMS!!!! It's ok to peep for a minute, but then you gotta keep on truckin! If not, you will have some SERIOUS loc envy! That happened this month and I seriously thought about picking out my locs and restarting them w/ two strand twists! Why? Cause I just happened to mosey on up in somebody elses album for a wee bit too long and started thinking, hmmmmm if I pick these out and start over maybe they will look like so and so's! Ohhhh no. May 28 will be 4 months to tha day and I aint pickin out a cotton picking one! I had to look at my babies and really apologize for wanting to take them down and start over. So and So's are pretty, but you know what, so are mine. Now, if my front would just bud...... Until next

Well, the month of April about to be ghost and I have only posted a few pictures. They are mainly from the first of the month.. Last entry I said that I would simply let my hair do what it does and that is what I am doing. For me less is more and I can tell you that my hair really thanks me for that. In addition to my perm rod sets, I have now discovered braid outs. I don't really see a big difference between the twist out and the braid out, but I think the braidout may just be one of my new best friends... :o) I cant braid, but my daughter can! That means a rest for me.. :o) Well, we will see what the month of May holds for me! Until next time, peace people! ~FeLee~

Well, I did it! I have had my 2 month maintenance and happy about it. My hair is shrinking, but I guess that is supposed to happen, right? I have some that are firm and some that are still unraveling. Its all good though. I dont have a problem with the ones that are unraveling. I tried latching again.. Its better this time. I latched the ones in the back so we will see what the outcome is later. What have I learned? ***Stalk other journals, but don't have loc envy. I'll "arrive" in time. I don't know what so and so had to endure to get that beautiful head of locs! Just love my head of locs right where they are! *** If you have a product that works for you, by all means stick with it until your hair tells you differently. :o)*** I don't necessarily have to change my routine from before. I wore twists for months at the time; whatever I did to those twists, are the same thing I should do to these which will become locs. Lessons learned in just 2 short months! Love and Peace People!

Not So Pretty?

3.13.07
Well yesterday was one of those not so pretty days। I was just NOT feeling my hair at all! I don't know what the deal was. I kept saying to myself, what is going on? Even though I felt that way, I didnt even think about taking them down. So i guess that is good. Anyway, I kept thinking about how when I would coil/twist my hair and then experiment with different styles and decided that I had to get back into that same mentality. I went home and did a twist to my style. I sprayed my locs w/ some moisturizer and twisted my locs. Got up this morning took them down and was in love all over again! Put on a little makeup and away I went! Got to work and got many compliments! Go figure, just a little change and you get compliments galore! There is only one person at work that knows I am locking may hair, and she was like, "I really like your hair today. What did you do to it? I thought you were locking it." Everybody else has no clue. One reason is because I always wear my hair either twisted or coiled anyway. I only wear it loose for maybe a week in a four to five month stretch. Well, I feel better today about my hair and feel like I can make it! Peace...

In the Beginning

Well, I am well on my way. I officially started my journey on Jan 28,2007. Since that time I have had a mini maintenance and a full fledge maintenance. I did my mini maintenance on 2.12.07, which in my opinion was really too early, but was just so anxious until I had to do something. The next maintenance was done on 2.26.07. On this date, I banded my locs, and really washed. I also counted my locs and I have 218. I was quite pleased with my results. I don't know why its all so exciting. Before, I could wear my coils or my twists for like 2 months at the time and not think about them, but its like now, I am watching a pot to see if it will boil. :o) On 3.8.07 I trimmmed some ends that were very scraggly. I did my regular trim before I installed my locs, but the ends were just outright nasty! Not quite sure why, but I got rid of those suckers and my hair looks even better. I have noticed that my back locs are really starting to look like locs! They are firming up, and taking on that loc look! Some of the ends are getting that ball on the end that I have read about in other albums, and I am getting some buds..... Yea! At any rate, all in all I am so in love with my decision to loc. In the past I have always thought about it, but I knew it would have to be an internal decision before I actually did it. Now, I think I just need to stop thinking about it so my hair can just do its thang. I have tried to latch and it just aint happening. I dont know if I did the latch wrong(dont think I did), or what, but I didnt like it. I kept 2 in the back of my head and took the other few out that I had latched and decided to stick with what I know right now. Maybe as they mature I might be able to, but right now, latching is not an option for me. All those sistas out there that can latch, my hat goes off to you. Dont understand it either, cause I like to crochet! Oh well. Anyway, this is my entry for the month of March, and pictures will be posted to show the progress. Thanks to all for reading!
