Ok, my last maintenance to my hair was done July 28. On my fotki page i declared all out freeform war! :o) Well, that really was my intent. But, what I noticed during the "freeform" period was 2 things. 2 very important observations. My locs loved the wash and go routine. My roots did thicken, and didnt thicken.... I started out w/ like 220 or so locs and they were on small root beds. What happened? Lets see, I picked out a few and started them over, I combined some to make a more secure base, others were just NOT locing. The ones that were not locing were in the top of my head. They were just doing their own thing... I know I know patience, but this was a little bit more than patience. I forsaw a problem and thought I should correct it before I really paid for it a little later into this journey. What did I see, you say? Umm lets just say I dreamed on more than one occasion I would wake up, get out of bed and have locs laying on my pillow...... not a pretty picture. So what did I do? I had a merger of sorts.. :o) I combined the majority of my 200+ locs and feel more excited than I did in the very beginning. The thing that is sad is that the ones that I combined look like they should have been one anyway! I washed, conditioned, latchedand two strand twisted and wrapped to keep the mergers together. I am hoping that by Nov they will be able to stand alone and I can take the wraps off... I plan to stick to my original plan of staying away from the root maintenance until then. I know I already did one for September, but it was part of the plan. Hey, I went 7 weeks! Good for me... :o)
